At The Wisborough Pub in Wisborough Green, our locally-sourced menu, seasonal game dishes, fine wine and beer meet the highest demands for both classic and innovative ideas.
The Wisborough is a truly sustainable proper British countryside pub, serving the very best of British produce, wines direct from the French Chateaux, and award winning real ales.
And, all of this at a fair countryside price!
The Bat & Ball now known as the Wisborough was famous for it's music and indeed it all kicked-off (so legend has it) with Willie Austin. And we at The Wisborough are bringing the legend back and indeed doing more. From the 10th of October, every Friday night at The Wisborough will be live music night and we start with the great local band HAZE who will be playing rock and roll, funk and covers covering the ages. If you get in early there will be a fresh fish and chip pre-performance supper at just £10.00 and of course a good seat. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Tables of eight to thirty are available, as is the private courtyard or 1655 Club.
The Best of British produce hung & butchered on-site.
The Wisborough butchers, hangs and prepares all livestock on the premises, and as such we guarantee its provenance and Great British quality.
From our hanging rooms and at the perfect time and not before, our succulent meats are served to you at the peak of perfection.
Guests are welcome to visit the hanging room. Each day we will post on the dining room wall whichever cut has reached perfection. Please be aware our cooking & resting process does take a little longer than normal but, we assure you its well worth the wait.
With perhaps the best wine cellar in Sussex, a direct line to the Head Chef, the original inglenook fireplace and flagstone floors, a private wine and ale cellar and seating indoors and out for up to 100 people, the 1655 is a true countryside private members’ club housed at The Wisborough Pub in Wisborough Green.
Those who receive membership of the 1655 Club, and all the privileges that come with it, will enjoy a straightforward service. The room has a 'no menu - no bill' policy which means that the Head Chef will cook what you want for lunch or dinner. In addition, you will have the key to not only the wine cellar but the ale room too, as well as your own private bottle box should you so desire. Everything will be added to your tab with the minimum of fuss.
The 1655 has its own private 16th-Century courtyard that seats up to 50 people, as well as its own large private garden, which can hold 100. Both outdoor spaces are available for your use whenever you visit,
All-in-all, the 1655 Club offers a leisurely, somewhat old-fashioned ambiance where you can feel truly at home, and will be made to feel so on every visit.
Our 1655 Club wine cellar is donated by The Grape Foundation meaning that each and every bottle you drink raises money, real money, for underprivileged or unwell children here in the UK. Wines of note at the moment include: Cheval Blanc, La Tache, Chateau La Tour, Sassicia, Mouton Rothschild, Vega Sicillia & Gaja. Most bottles are available in half magnum, magnum or double magnum.
The criteria for membership is as follows. The Chairlady reserves the right to refuse or waive membership.
1. A Fine Wine enthusiast who can support the habit with similar epicurean passions.
2. A philanthropist at heart.
3. A person whose day or night-time proclivities know no bounds.
